broken constellations
turn the night sky red, oh
like vultures losing patience
they're flying overhead, oh
i can feel vibration
below the flowerbed
coming down to break us
not over yet
in a bar, kaleidoscopic
asking people if they come here often
try to change the subject if they ask about my day
arguing with strangers on political opinions
i never figured out how to get these circles off my face
call yourself an arsonist but
really you're just burning old assignments by the river with a couple of your friends
couldn't tell a story well to save a stranger's life
so i think i'll stick around, maybe see how this one ends
reach into your glove compartment, fumble for a pill
you've been complaining about your head ever since we had our little talk
cut off all your hair, or maybe dye it phthalo green
read an article on how you should be going for a walk
write another journal entry, maybe about me
but only if my name has earned repeated tension in your hand
give me your opinion, i'll gladly disagree
or you can tell me how you're doing and i'll try to understand
and when i see you in the corner of my eye
the frenzy of the light show fades into a technicolor background
playing infinity on high
i sit and sing along with a psyche that's impossible to track down
i've got a body and a mind in a struggle to keep up
and a scar on my right leg from when i was younger
i think i'm staying in tonight
there's water at my door
and you know that i'm afraid of going under
hardwood floor calls to me
like open doors
they're ought to be
something more
than all of these
agoraphobic words
interpolate internal doubt
as something you can't go without
prevent yourself from going out
the cages need their birds, oh
press against the window pane
and watch the world remain the same
would anybody know your name
outside of these four walls
come apart at shredded seams
a tower fan white noise machine
you pull your teeth out in your dreams
and wake up as you fall, oh
but you take another step
and you take another
falling out of touch with everyone you know
or maybe used to
break your body down to manageable parts
just wings and carrion now
talking to yourself alone in your room
the walls won't answer
and if you'd rather leave
open your cage and pick yourself back up
clouds, dark grey
coming down in sheets and
i could never sleep in
tidal waves
wandering the streets
clothes clinging onto me like
cellophane
preserving all my insides
an architect at low tide
night and day
couldn't tell the difference if i wanted
and driving down through storm
like exit wounds
your hands are coming down in streaks of light
stand up straight
my legs begin to waver
i'd like to ask a favour
id that's alright
i'm looking for a reason for everybody leaving
and i just might
follow in their footsteps
but i know i know i know i know
i'm so polite
so i thought i'd let you know before then
and lying on my back
a borrowed mattress
like a makeshift raft inflated high
as i connect the dots
and pray you're listening
change around the stars with your reply
so i've
been staring at the bathroom floor
for quite some time
don't know what i've been looking for
closing time
they're knocking on the bathroom floor
i wouldn't mind if i had somewhere to be
and oh my love
if you're leaving i'll be right behind
i don't think that many people mind if i go with you
and oh my love
give it everything you've got
not even a single thought to who you left behind
alive
from everything that i can tell
been up all night
cause none of this is going well
over time
left you hanging like a drying rack
i'm hiding in a skull that's cracked is starting to cave in
and oh my love
if you're leaving you could change your mind
if it's okay with you i'll wait behind and see how this plays out
and oh my love
like water through an idle hand
the castle that was made of sand is disappearing
a clearing in the tide
and this is goodbye
afraid to ask directions
how am i supposed to call you
there's a lot of people that you seem to want to talk to
i've got a lot of questions, if you don't mind
i know you don't have a lot of free time, but
if i think too long
i don't know if i will want to
oh god
i hope that you'd notice if i
the birds have left for winter
no canaries in the coal mine
the people on tv say it's gonna be a cold night
and i don't know if anybody's listening
but i change my mind
chain link on the outside but damn it's such a good view
underneath are headlights
unaffected by a curfew
you know sometimes
i wish that i could understand
i get in my own way on every try
there's a lot of people
who could really use your help
and they've been waiting a long time
an evergreen branch is thrown across a city street
the rest of his friends are several blocks away
the smell in the air of petrichor and gasoline
it seems mother nature has some words to say
and when the sun alights on all your work
through eye of storm above
we didn't want reminder, no
the carnage is enough
bringing the world through second storey tempering
the feeling of safety has begun to pass
a parking garage redecorated, wavering
a beautiful galde adorned with broken glass
lying down
watch the perseids as they're approaching
solid ground
watercolour trails behind
all around
an orchestra of engineering
coming down
to rubble in a forest clearing
forest clearing
(instrumental)
vultures - track one from "End of Days" - re-recorded the screams at the end, and added some keys in the build up.
phthalo green - track one from "Light Show" - pretty significant re-balancing, plus added a high synth and piano to the instrumental break and verse three.
birdsong - track six from "Light Show" - basically everything was redone for this one since i wanted a pretty heavy style difference, and also since i dropped the key a decent amount. pulled the drums from the original, plus the backing vocals from the ending. also very sadly cut the 11/8 breakdown, never forget
exit wounds - track six from "Blackout" - redid the whole instrumental, but kept the original vocals and harmonies. also added my own percussion sample from "meteorologist"
goodbye - track eight from "An Ode to the Tide" - the only things from the original are the percussion and the last vocal layer added at the end
oh god - track six from "Elixir" - this one is a complete remake, no original sounds
carnage - track six from "Timelapse" (wow i sure like track six huh) - once again this one is a complete remake, special shoutout to the upright bass my dad rented for me for my birthday
plastic medley - this one's a mix of original recordings and stuff pulled from my old, no longer on streaming album called "Plastic". There's parts in this track to represent all of the original tracks on the album, not including the two covers at the end.
